THE 2020 US ELECTIONS

Many eligible voters encounter obstacles when registering to vote. Such as access to the internet, illiteracy or simply a lack of motivation. I collaborated with writer/director David Charles to create an art project to inspire these people to register and vote. The idea took the negative language and issues of systematic racism and voter suppression and that plagued culture before the election and turned it on its head to focus on positivity and love.

The installation for the project was held at the Owl Bureau art book store and gallery in Los Angeles. Visitors used a tablet to register to vote. A friendly host was on hand to help anyone who needed assistance. And each registration came with the gift of a limited-edition poster for the new voter.

The gallery windows were covered with a collage of drawings and messages framed in the optimistic tone of the project. Finally, an online store sold posters and shirts to raise funds for the cause.

Curated by Chandelier and Victoria Jesionek.
